“You can get stuck in the writer’s room, and you can forget what it’s like to be a 14-year-old watching the show, or to be someone that has been with it for 6 years.. I understand that Oliver has to endure hardships, at the same time, if all that’s happening to him every year is that he’s being served a shit sandwich, and being forced to eat it, and pretend that he’s NOT eating a shit sandwich, then eventually you’re just gonna be like ‘alright, I’m out!’. You have to remember that it is a show about a superhero, and people want that character to WIN.”
